My car broke down so I didn't get to go to Fairfield and I was sitting around watching the DVR with my husband. We were watching the History channel's Top Shot, fast forwarding through all the "who's going to vote who off" crap when I suddenly sat straight up in my chair. "I recognize that stance! We've competed against that Brad guy!"
Let's see if Mark, Teddy, Luke and whoever else went to the Airsoft Pistol Challenge last year recognizes Brad. I remember him because he used a regular holster and shot faster than the dudes with the fancy IPSC set ups. (I'd like to see how he does against Jon and his flip-flops and shorts!)
Here's his bio on the History Channel, click on "Brad"
http://www.history.com/shows/top-shot/bios/#slide-5
He's actually doing well in the show.
Here's a video of the competition last year with BAM Airsoft:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKlB1cTDhfQ&feature=related
1st Round: Mark is at 0:28 he shoots so fast that he holsters his gun and walks away before his competitor is done, Brad is at 0:47, Brad hands a kid his own gun and mag after the little guy's gun jams at 1:29, Teddy kicks my butt at 2:16, Luke does a smokin' good job at 2:30
2nd round: Brad again at 5:14, Mark and Luke head to head at 5:54, Teddy at 6:29
Round 3: Brad at 6:52, Teddy at 7:02, Luke at 7:15
Round 4: Brad at 7:43
Round 5: Brad 8:05 for 2nd place in the elimination tournament. He placed 6th overall.
Here's the overall scores for the whole day of competition:
Scroll down to June 27th, 2009
http://www.airsoftextreme.com/events/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=47&Itemid=60
Note that Mark placed 5th! (and had the wisdom not to appear on a cheesy TV show!) Luke placed 9th, Teddy 16th, and I placed 20th.
I would love to go to another one! Hey, maybe we can do our own with the team targets from BAM. What's everyone doing tonight? How about tomorrow night? _________________ Jennifer

I've shot with several of these guys. Mike Skeelander was bumped in the first show, and he's pretty good. JJ Racaza is a phenominal handgun shooter. Unfortunately the show just doesn't give a good representation of each contestants true shooting skills. Lets face it, they shoot a couple of shots and they are done in most evolutions. The people who would probably do the best at it are shooters with a well rounded experience in ALL aspects of firearms. Maybe 3 gun competitors with a lot of age/wisdom. When they start throwing in random things like Bows, knife throwing, etc., how many pro shooters are going to be well versed in such matters? Anyone can have a bad day given these diverse "diciplines", and can get bumped even though they may have mad skills in other areas. Especially if they kept their mouths shut off the range and didn't get their ass "voted" off the show for "drama" reasons.
The only true way to find who is the "top shot" is to have all competitors compete head to head with everyone doing the same drills on the same pieces of equipment. Even the blackest operators with the deepest training have their weak areas. Organizers should then score everything, and tally up a final score. Once the show went away from this, it became just another bullshit drama fest.
In my opinion, this is just another junk "reality" series, pumped up by phony drama. Most pro gunnies I know are sooooooo low key and laid back that I wondered how they ever got them to "smack talk" on each other for the "drama" angles. Every dog has their day in the pro shooting circuit, and every event that has 150 competitors also has 149 LOOSERS! That alone breeds humility and humbleness.
BTW, I would've won this thing if I had been invited! I got MAD skillz in soooooo many areas! LOL Spit wads to airsoft, Cross bows to throwing tomahawks! I can't wait to see the shotgun competitions.
Jen, I got your (and the teams) pile of BAM plates. I'll also get the NV back to you as soon as I get down there. _________________

Guess what I gotin the email today?!?
I got a call from the History Channel about the show "Top Shot" while driving home from a movie shoot in LA Thursday
I told them I have cataracts and can't see well enough to compete anymore. I sure wanted to.
So they asked me to forward this email to our members to see if anyone is interested.
It would require several weeks (10+) starting at the end of October, no pay, room and food, but you could win $100,000.00
So if you think you got what it takes, apply on the attached flyer. Deadline is Aug 12th.
If you've seen the show, you have to stay until you get eliminated. (Sundays)
